JULIUS "JERRY" KOHENA DENTAL CLINIC--On Friday, January 27, 2006, Senator Winner helped open the new Julius "Jerry" Kohena Dental Clinic for the Developmentally Disabled at the Cerebral Palsy and Handicapped Children's Association of Chemung County. ELMIRA AARP--On June 22nd, in the closing days of this year's legislative session, Senator Winner met with the members of Elmira AARP Chapter 276 in Albany. The local AARP members visited the Capitol to call for the approval of drug price list legislation, as well as other drug affordability issues. 0.523 mb

WOMAN OF DISTINCTION-Senator George H. Winner, Jr. (R-C, Elmira) and his colleagues in the New York State Senate honored Maxine Neal of Watkins Glen with a "Woman of Distinction" award. WOMAN OF DISTINCTION-Senator George H. Winner, Jr. (R-C, Elmira) and his colleagues in the New York State Senate honored Virginia Meehan of Rexville with a "Woman of Distinction" award. Mrs. Meehan was elected West Union Town Clerk in 1984. PROTECTING COMMUNITIES--Senator Winner joined forces in May with Elmira native and current Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro to call for legislation to keep dangerous sexual predators confined for longer periods of time. 0.462 mb

MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS-- Senator Winner recently met with the members of Ithaca's DeWitt Middle School Choral Group. The students performed at the State Capitol as part of the New York State School Music Association's "Music In Our Schools" celebration. 0.191 mb

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS--Senator Winner and Assemblyman Jim Bacalles have been strong supporters of the "Support Our Troops" care package donation campaign. On February 14th, 7,500 pounds of donations from the Southern Tier were delivered to Troy, N.Y., to the Family Readiness Groups of the 42nd Infantry Division and 642nd MI Battalion of the New York Army National Guard. The Family Readiness Groups organize care packages that are sent to New York State servicemen and women in Iraq. 0.126 mb
